Ford blue, that is.
Dad just bought the neighbors 1991 Ford 4630. They just got themselves a shiny new green one .
Excellent rubber. All 4 tires changed within the last year or so.
Has a FEL. Shuttle shift. 2wd. Spent a lot of time on a PTO genny(neighbors have a laying house).
Good stout tractor. I haven't been on it in years, but I was impressed with it when it was new.
Anybody had any experiences with these? Good, bad, ugly?
He says it has a few power steering/hydraulic leaks.
Im downloading parts and service manuals for it now.
I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!

Way better than a green one of same year and size. Bullet proof if you keep oil and fluids in them. JMHO, Tracy

Ford built some good stuff and my brother topped out at nine of them a few years back, all mid 70's to late 80's, 75-145hp.
We still chuckle about the power outage story years ago as he had the TW on the gennie just under half throttle and full of fuel, went to the rental farm where he boarded heifers after lining out his teenage boys on running the barn cleaner first, then the silo unloader, then the vacuum pump for milking and doing it separately so as not to overload the gennie.
Came home an hour later, crested the hill to see everything lit up on the home place. Wife came home from work and turned everything on in the house, TW was "barking", walked into the barn to find one son feeding out of the silo, barn cleaner running and everything up and running while the other son was milking. Staged things off and finished milking, went to bed with everything off in the house except furnace and water pump.
When out in the morning before daylight and shut down the TW, switched over from the safety disconnect as they had power again.
Did morning chores and walking back up to the house, stopping to take a look at the gennie in the daylight. Still has that pto shaft and I should take a picture of it next time I'm back there as it is twisted into a corkscrew. Not the new hollow type, old solid square shaft. Towed the gennie to the dealer and they said they did not know how it ran through the night, it was toast and he came home with a new bigger unit.

Brent, terrible tractor especially with the FEL. I think I should come take it off your hands and save you a lot of trouble. LOL

Send it here. We'll make room. It'll put a little stick in the father in law's craw to and that's always fun

Dream, who does your neighbor grow for? If they grow for Pilgrim, we might be getting some of their chicks on Friday

Well, I posted that and then ran off. Had to pay a few bills etc.
Got to go up and help him with a few things weekend before last. We worked on the fuel leaks. Not too bad. Needs a new petcock for the fuel tank, and the line from the filter to the inj pump has a cracked ferrule nut, but none of that leaks too bad. Power steering feels "wierd". It works fine and turns well, just seems like you have no feel for what the wheels are doing back through the steering wheel. Not sure if anybody else has noticed this. It has a power steering filter that im sure has never been changed. Might try that.

I welded up the loader bucket somewhat. Back corners are rusted out from the chicken manure. Will be replacing the bucket floor at some point. Gotta make him a better bale spear than what it has right now. That one slips over the bucket and has a bolt through the bottom. Its cracked the bucket floor and bent it. He wants to be able to keep the loader bucket on with the spear.
Welded up the frame for the swinging drawbar. Somebody broke that real good. Took some time with the porta power and sledge before I could weld it up.
Got to take it around the block. My memories of it bein stout were right. Whew! 4th gear high and up a steep grade. Let out the clutch and got in the throttle. Black smoke and she took right off! No lug whatsoever. Put the bucket in the ground pushing up a couple of shrubs. No lug. Will spin out pretty quick though. Not thinkin it has any fluid in the rears. It has 16.9 x 24" rears. Lots of rubber on the ground.

Mr Hubert, I think dad has gotten kinda attached to it by now, so he can just suffer through.
Mr Hendrix, I have completely drawn a blank on who they grow for. I saw a Harrison golden goodness sign somewhere, but that don't seem right. Guess that means I need to go visit more often huh?
Mr Murphy, always a pleasure to hear from you. Hope everybody up there in Cumming is doing well. Say hey to Zac for me.
I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!
