We gave about $3250 for it and it needs a lot of work but runs well and shifts good.

It amazes me how people abuse and damage a tractor. We have always treated ours like a family car. The tractors got a regular washing after crops were planted or harvested. Actually, if they got dirty at all. Regular maintenance kept them trouble free and less likely for break down. My dad's D-15seriesII is flawless as well as his 6060. Both were bought new. I don't by the if you use them they are going to get dinged up. All about pride I guess. May pay more for a clean, straight sheet metal tractor, but at least they took care of it and you may have fewer issues with it. I hope yours turns out to be a good find for you.

Some people just tear things up.  A farmer down the road got a new dodge dually this spring and it looks like crap already.  He could tear up a D 9 dozer.  I sold a round baler to a friend and he let this guy use the baler.  I told him, once so and so hooks up to it, I will not guarantee anything on that baler.

the cost of stuff these days and people still beat the crap out of it, I know of some farmers around my area are the same way brand new equipment looks 30 years old in less than a year. even stuff they borrow comes back needing some kind of work! Even though stuff I have at home in my shed is 30 40 50 years old I treat it like its new. kept clean always inside.

Nice tractor and it seems like a great price if it starts and moves.
As to the dings. I think it depends some on the fields you have. I try to take care of my stuff but I do have woods everywhere and I don't have the time to trim the edges so brush hogging and even mowing you came really avoid those low branches. Plus I use a tractor to get my wood out so there is more woods time. Try as you might the sheet metal does get dings from the trees..

Keeping them in a shed keeps them nice. Unless you get something corrosive I don't think washing helps that much. I'm more worried about keeping tractors inside than vehicles. I maintained tractor can look nice for decades it doesn't take 10 years for vehicles to rust out

And ours are kept inside as well. Trees are an issue at times.

If your 7060 could speak, what would it say? "Where are they taking now? I hope it isn't Worthington Ag Parts. I sure hope somebody knows how to change oil at my new home."

Give her a good home. It looks like she has earned one.

Got the tractor in the shop and started working on it. Just wanted to update and can anyone find out what dealer this tractor could have originally been sold at? Thanks John

I've been told that Allis didn't really keep global records of what serial numbers went to what dealers. You'd have to find the sales record at the dealer it was sold at. Most likely that dealer wouldn't have the records either, or is closed. Sorry

Deutz destroyed most records so dealer records is your only source.

Not so sure you'd want to do that. At least not without a lot of information and confirmation. There is some structural integrity that has to do with whether the tractor was built with a cab or open. I suppose I could be all wet, but I've run across that statement before.

Yes it is Sandknob. What is the difference between one that was built with a cab or one that was built as an open station?

Completely different. When you pull the cab. You have nothing left.

Thanks IG. What do you guys recommend doing with it? The cab is rusted out and it will also need a new door.

I thought I recognized that bridge as well. Used to take it fairly frequently on my trips from ec Indiana to Evansville.

I hate to admit to it but I pulled doors and widows on a 7060. Cut the front frame loose on the corners at the top of cab with a plasma cutter and I now have a canopy. Helps to have another tractor to look at. I have a 7045 with a canopy. Strip all the AC components and cab stuff. A little wire welding and grinding and you can hardly tell it

May think about canopy. Is it very difficult to do or is it just take apart kind of stuff? The cabs are ROPS cabs arent they because that is what it says on the inside of the tractor? Thanks John

When I was a kid we had several tractors that had cabs but no ac. We just pulled the doors side windows and rear window in the summer and put them back in the winter. We only removed glass that was easy to remove and put back as a full window frame it worked great. You still got the shade and most of the breeze. And best of all when it got Cold you could put the cab back.

No its not hard, if I remember correctly. Everything unbolts but you will have to cut the front corner post of the cab. It will lift over the steering cowling. There will be some fin work over the door that will need to come off if you are making something for show or you want it to look factory. Ill see if I can get a close up of factory canopy.

I took the fire wrench to my 7080, cut the front and all posts as low as I could. Ground it flat and built wider fenders. I left the sides and back of the cab so everything is still mounted in the factory location. I had pics of it on here at one time but don't have a way of posting them anymore. If you Google "allis Chalmers 7080" there are a few pics if you scroll down. Maybe somebody can help out and put them on here.
