The ramp and roller actuators were seized up.  I have everything apart.  The balls are smooth but have no chrome coating ( if they ever did ).  Should they be replaced?  Should I polish the ramp pockets and apply dry film or graphite film to them?  The linkages all seem to move freely but the brake pedals were almost impossible to push down?  With the brakes gutted the pedals move down and return with ease.  Any and all help is appreciated.  Thanks

i just went through all this. it sat for a while. my balls were pitted so I got new ones. I couldn't get my linkages to act right. turns out the cross shaft was semi seized. pounded it out, cleaned it up, greased….. best set of brakes I have now. well worth the time spent for the extra tear down. got brakes through sparex. good luck.

I found a local brake shop who will take my brake discs, remove the friction material and replace it.  That turned out to be pretty cheap and better than OEM.   I'll just order new balls tomorrow.  They are also cheap.  Did you lubricate the ramp pockets?  I can't see what it would harm if I use dry lube.  Did you crosshatch the metal brake surfaces? Mine are extremely smooth.  I'll check my cross shaft tomorrow.  Thanks for the heads up.

I found a 1" felt polishing fob to fit my die grinder.  I used some lapping compound and those ramp pockets polished up like they were chrome plated.  Smooth as glass.  I ordered some precision chrome plated balls today.  I'm going to use some dry film lubricant and put the assemblies back together.  I think these actuators should work well now.  Cross shaft moves freely.

Not supposed to grease them. Clean them annually. One thing Deere has that allis doesn't- good brakes....

Clean and dry.They get better after a couple hrs use.
