I am changing the engine oil in my 440 and I have been using a nappa #1970 oil filter. But I notice that it only goes on 3 turns. The local agco dealer can't find a filter number for it. What filter is supposed to go on it? Thanks Dan

Victoryallis I wish you weren't so far away we have one out in the pasture with a broken crank. And she's gonna wind up getting junked at some point

I like the tractor, the biggest thing we had before it is a couple 220, 210's and a d21. So pulling the 9 shank 1500 min till and the 24 foot field cultivator is no problem. We can run them deeper and faster. The tractor was blown up when I bought it. It had 2 burn pistons. So it was completely rebuilt sleeve pistons valves, radiator clutch. The manifolds were shot. My dad found a guy who builds headers for race cars. So it has custom headers on it. You can hear it a long way away. I will go out later and see what the serial number is. The steering orbital motor is leaking, so that is the next project for it.

440 compared to a 7580...The creature comforts of the 7580 will undoubtedly be much better, along with the hydraulics just because of the age difference between the two. As far as performance they are about the same. We run a Versatile 555 series three and we used to own a 7580. The 555 gets a bad wrap because like the 7580 farmers used them like a 300hp tractor and they would blow up. If you keep the oil changed and keep it on the 9 shank and 24ft field ctivator you will be fine...Problems occur when you tie them to the ground with big implements and lug them.I personally would have much rather had a 555 Cummins than the Allis 426 in the 7580...

Don't scrap the tractor. I would be interested in parts off of it if it comes to that.
