Changing the hyd fluid in the new to me D17 SIV - drained out just a tick under 5 gallons between the two drain plugs. Put 5 gallons of diesel in to flush it and let sit for a couple of days. Pulled the plug under the right side and only got a gallon or so of diesel out. Pulled the left plug and got a few drips. I'm guessing I need to drop the sump and clean the screen? Looking at ordering gasket #70233249 before I start. Any suggestions?

I pulled that pan off mine and that screen was shot! The mesh pulled a way from the metal frame. It was no longer available from Agco. I ended up fabricating metal and reattaching the mesh screen. Something needed to be done. It worked. Ryan

The screen on mine was close to being completely plugged.
Not only that, but the ring magnet inside the sump had so much metal & debris on it, it looked like a Chia Pet. Was surprised the pump even worked. Like Ryan, there were some areas where the screen mesh had separated from the frame-work. Soldered it all back up and after making the 2 gaskets, got it all together and it worked fine. Gaskets are item 6 below. Use plenty of Permatex #2 when assembling. That's alot better than silicone sealants. And, Like Ryan said the screen is not available either. If yours isn't any good, you might check around to see if any AGCO dealers might have one stashed away. It's p/n 70242403 item 7 below Otherwise, repair it so that the mesh is 100% complete. BTW, I don't see a magnet on this parts breakdown.. IDK if that was an option ? ![]() Edited by Gatz in NE - 08 Nov 2016 at 8:25pm |

Besides fighting with the pan that acts like its welded on, I have another question. Is there anywhere else for fluid to go? Since so little diesel came out, I would have expected to see some in the reservoir, but it looks empty. The trans level is still where it was before, so it didn't transfer. Do both plugs hold hyd fluid or am I misunderstanding the layout?

that sump casting can be a bear to get off.
I used a rigid putty knife and kept tapping it in all around till it finally separated. Leave 2 of the bolts still engaged in the threads to keep it from dropping on the floor; it's heavier than it appears Edited by Gatz in NE - 01 Dec 2016 at 11:16am |
