Hey all new to forum bought an 8070 this spring rebuilt fuel pump rebuilt injectors new head job took it to local Jd dealer put it on dyno was 160 hp we set it at 200 hp y'all think it'll bo ok

Welcome to the forum. Is it a power shift, or power director transmission. I guess the power director is a little tougher. I don't think you'll have any problems, unless you use all 200 horses constantly. Darrel

Does it get hot when you work it? Have excess "puffing" blowby? Excess oil consumption?

Also where you present for dyno test? If so once you tied it down to 1000 pto rpm, did it hold power or fall in its face?

We used the dyno ourselves it held at 1000 rpm motor runs good no excessive blow by pullin manure rank ain't hard except on grades

Make sure your radiator is doing its job, and that the guage is reading true. A must for a 8070. If you don't number 6 cylinder will score when you are t paying attention on a hot day. Change antifreeze and keep coolant conditioned. You did the right thing on the top end and fuel system. Curious how many hours are on engine and if bottom end has had work?

It's got a little over 4000 hrs on it don't know if bottom end had any work on it liners looked good didn't think 200 would be to much on it held pro at rated speed hasn't been runnin hot at all though haven't loaded it a whole lot

It's my suggestion to keep them under 185. That's just me tho. They were t designed to run 200+ Especially working the snot out them constantly. If you using the extra power for tough spots you may be ok. When mine went to 160 on a fresh fuel system it had a scored hole. But the radiator got choked with dandelion fuzz one day I was t paying attention as I should.

Personally, I would leave it at no more than 170 Hp, that's enough for that engine. If you need 200 Hp, find a 200 Hp tractor.

Well I may back it off a turn if y'all think l should never had a 426 before been away from allis since early 90's had d17's growing up then 190 and 180 200 175 and 7010 got away from allis when all the dealers left our part of the country

Another little tidbit of information: an FWA equipped tractor performs poorly at road speeds compared to a 2WD tractor. There is HP wasted turning all of those FWA gears at 18+ MPH. A 7040 will pull loaded wagons just about as well as an 8050 FWA. In the field at slower speeds the FWA is a great performance enhancer. On the road at high speeds? NOT!!

Biggest problem I have with this whole thread is that it was only putting out 160hp, and nobody thought to figure out why it was low. If pump and injectors were just properly serviced, it should have made at least the factory rating of 170hp! A lot of times the fuel is turned up to cover up a poor state of tune issue. If at proper tune, and just pulling that wagon, it should be fine at 200hp, since you aren't demanding 200 hp all day long, but it has it on the rare occasion it needs it. I always recommend to put a pressure gauge in the intake manifold and check boost while on the dyno. Was it smoking heavily while only delivering 160? Did you ask the pump shop to set it different than stock? Are you 100% sure the injectors are in the correct way? Lots of guy put them in backward since it's easier to get the returns on, but it results in the spray pattern being totally wrong.

Told pump tech to set it at factory spec held pro rating at 200 not a lot of smoke unless loaded extremely heavy where rpm start backing off

If it were mine on the dyno at 160 with a fresh fuel system I would be looking awful hard for bad turbo, a bad intake gasket, rotten fuel hoses, or a bad new injector. It should be at least 170 if everything is up to snuff.... It seems one hole is lacking something.

At what pto rpm on the dyno did the engine lose ability to hold engine rpm?
