I just wanted to take a minute to introduce my self.  I recently took possession of a 180 that had been in my family since it was new.  Well sort of.  My late great uncles, The Richardson brothers in Bates City, MO, didn't really believe in buying much of anything new.  They were always buying old tractors, trucks, and anything else, and fixing them up to either use on the farm or sell and make some money.  The story of this 180 as I was told by my great uncle Bill, was that it was rolled off the side of a railcar while being unloaded and damaged pretty badly.  My uncles bought it like that at auction.  That was the only "new" tractor they ever bought.  They fixed it up and used it as their primary tractor until they quit farming in 92.  it spent the next 20 yrs or so being used primarily for bush hogging around the farm once or twice a year.  Some time in the 90's she received an in-frame.  And about 5 years ago, just before she was put up. she got a new set of rear tires, and the fronts were filled with urethane.  It had been having some issues with fuel starvation, and that's part of the reason it quit getting used. 

Any way, Last weekend with fresh batts, fresh oil, and fresh fuel, and filters, I was able to get her running well enough to get her and a bush hog 3210 loaded up and carried home to TN.  I haven't had a lot of time to work on it yet, but when she has fuel, she runs very strong.  I bypassed the hand primer, as it was leaking horribly, but it still runs out of fuel.  After a few minutes of running, it will run out of fuel in the filer, and die.  If I pull the plug out of the top of the filter housing, and let it gravity feed, it will fire back up.  My next step is to drain the tank, clean it out, and replace the sediment bowl.  the shut off won't close, and it refuses to stop leaking.  I feel confident that I'll have it running like a top very soon.

congrats on your new to you 180! i'm sure you'll get it running good soon, it's a pretty simple tractor. and good all around tractor! oh....and welcome to the forum!

Welcome aboard. I think you will find that if the tank doesn't have algae in it, you will need a pump rebuild because of flex ring. Age will break them down eventually. You are not far from Slade Sissom over that way. He is a great  AC mechanic. HTH Tracy

Not sure if the 180 has 2 sediment bowls like the 190 does. If it does  they both need to be clear and you need to shut them both off to get the fuel to stop flowing. Maybe check to see if your fuel cap is venting.

Well, I've got it running decent at least.  After doing some searching on here I decided to try swapping the check valve on the IP return out for a plain barb.  That seemed to help some, but it wasn't really clogged.  I had a facet 1-4 psi pump laying around, so I threw it in where the primer was and wired it to the ign switch.  Admittedly this is a bandaid, but it seems to be working so far.  I ran it for about an hour the other night grading the driveway, and never had any issues with fuel starvation.  There also seems to be a noticeable improvement of low RPM idle.  I have zero experience with algae in fuel. I understand the concept, but am clueless to how it presents itself.  My plan is to rebuild/reseal the Inj pump this winter, but I need to get a building built before I can do that, and I have some work to do with the tractor before I can do that.  I also know i'm going to need to repack the lift cyliners in the near future, as they are both leaking.  Are these parts still available?  Also, when using the position control, it seems to make a leaking sound while holding position.  Is this normal, or should I expect to be rebuilding a valve assembly this winter as well?
