I recently acquired a 1951 WD. The engine serial number ends in "PA". What designation is this? Have another that ends in "GA" for gas. Even looked at it with the trouble light and it definitely is a "P".
Also, any ideas what a nice stored inside always pickup for an AC model 60 combine is worth. Have a neighbor with one he wants to sell and I have no idea. Never saw one for sale before.
   Thank you for any help.

PA is 5.7:1 gasoline and GA is the 5.5:1 gasoline. I know they had a running change in the pistons used. The earlier WD piston was completely flat on top while the later one had a beveled edge which represented the slightly taller piston.

I found an old link talking about this topic.http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=73264&title=block-suffixes

I paid $250 for a real nice pickup for an E and he threw in a dummy head with it.

The fuel designation 70 years after-the-fact doesn't really mean much anymore. Engines have been overhauled a time or two since they were new.

very true Doc. I almost feel guilty putting the "Power Crater" decal back on my block after paint and a inframe with different pistons....
