I was setting the left brake, I heard a pop and the brake pedal flopped over. It seemed to have popped loose from the brake. If nothing is broke is this an easy fix, or do I have to pull the tire and final drive? Can it be reached from the plate on top?

Thanks
Curt

What broke and where at. Probably broke brake rod where it screws into clevis end. Look at where it enters under foot rest under rear axle housing. That would be most common break. They can be aggravating to say the least. HTH Tracy Martin

Tracy - one of these days when I get back to Nashville we'll have to synch up on those brake parts.  Mike

No visible breaks, at first I thought the compression roll pin on the pedal had fallen out but no such luck. It is loose inside the axle housing.

Curt, Could possibly be the cross bar actuates the brakes. Can you see in there with flashlight and or mirror? Might have to take that side off. Lucky you on that, you don't have to remove hyd. valve assembly. Let us know. Tracy Martin

Traci, I've worked on brakes on D17 series 4 several times and it is more crap to work around but never took the hyd assembly off.  I don't think it would be any different on a 175 and another pair of hands do help.

Twisted off the left brake rod on my D17D,had to pull off the whole left side to fix it,with a loaded tire and wheel weight, lotsa fun!
Why do today what you can put off til tomorrow.
