A few weeks ago I did the complete hydraulic hold adjustment on my wd45. Then a couple of weeks later I installed the pipes to hook both cylinders to the same outlet. Today I finally used my snap coupler blade for dirt work and it worked like a new tractor. I never could get the blade to work right because the hold setting was not correct.
Thanks to everyone who put information on here about adjusting the linkage. I mounted the blade and let the tractor set (engine off) blade up and it did not drop a bit. It never ever did that before. I never put the tractor away with the implement in the air, but today I put a block under the blade so I could replace a couple of the blade bolts and it did not drop. :-) I bought the new bolts from the local JD dealer :-( |

Mike in the operators manual there is a hydraulic section that has the pump linkage adjustment. Follow the step by step instructions. My adjustments were not off very much but it sure made a difference. I also plumbed both rams together because I don't need the delayed lift as used with the cultivator.
This is a system ahead of its time. It had low volume high pressure, I think every one else had low pressure high volume. I am not familiar with tractors like MM, Case, and Massy in the 50's. The draft was sensed off the bottom linkage, it took some companies years to figure out that the third (top) link on the 3 point did not give the best results. Hope this helps because operating the rear blade is such a pleasure now. Dennis |
