I finally drove up to Milwaukee to visit my older brother and he took me to whats left of the holy land. Sure wish I could have seen it when it was running. Doyle Cry

I was there a couple of years ago. You could feel the loss and emptiness. Kinda like when you visit a cemetery.
sometimes I walk out to my shop and look around and think "Who's the idiot that owns this place?"

I've been there a couple of times. The last was when the tractor trek paraded through one of the AC buildings prior to the first Union Grove GOTO. It was actually quite emotionally moving to watch more than 100 AC tractors driven through the building that evening. The owners of the building allowed us to wander around. After the last tractor passed, an overhead crane came up, hooked up to a cutaway AC turbine that was displayed, and hauled it back into the depths of the building. Bob@allisdowneast
I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not sure.

Bob,  I was pleased to meet you there in Union Grove GOTO.  I remember having a picture taken standing by "THE SIGN"
Later my son and I sat at a bar overlooking the street where the parade was passing. In fact, when they found I sold Allis Chalmers they asked me to give a running commentary on the model tractors and the years of the tractors as they passed.  We closed the place.  A GREAT EVENING.
It was indeed a pleasure to meet many of the participants on this forum and exchange thoughts at Union Grove.
Yes, with my father I visited the West Allis Plant twice when it was in operation. Watched them assemble WD tractors.  Visited the erection room where they were assembling a turbine and several other large machines.  A great trip for a young man.
Good Luck!

So what all is left? Is it just a sign? Me thunks that a brick or something from a factory building would be really cool to have. If anyone can tell me what's all left that would be awesome!

In 2005 when the GOTO was at Union Grove, we floated our tractors to the old plant and I did drive my D-21 through the plant that day. It was a great experience. They were also selling bricks from the original building at the show and I do have two. I would have liked have toured the plant when it was in full production.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

This is going to sound dumb. Does anyone have a brick from the AC plant for sale?
