Anyone use poly twine in a New Holland Super 68 Baler? I am getting very tired of the low quality sisal twine available in my area! Thanks in advance for any response.

Keep the knotter knives sharp and you shouldn't have any problems.

This is the first year I used plastic in my NH 269. I was worried how it would perform, so I threw in a new set of knotter knives and had sisal on hand, just in case. I love it and I'd be hard pressed to go back to sisal now. I even packed the bales as tight as the baler would go and it still worked great. I haven't broken one string yet. It worked so well, I went back and bought more plastic twine for the next cut. I'm using Bale Cord 9000/170.

I just hate cleaning up the plastic twine. You have to pick up every little piece you drop. It never goes away.

used it in a 273, put 170 lb knot strength and it made a huge difference in how much better it tied. New Holland Tytan is great

I just had some very poor twine myself, I had got mine at Fleet farm big chunks and real thin in other spots. the twine I get from my local feedmill is much better. I will never use plastic on small squares. I have twine from 20 years ago out in the pasture yet.

HudCo,
You must have few mice. They will chew poly twine. I find that it depends upon what is in the bale. If it is wheat, oat, rye, etc straw that has some seed left in it, they will go after the seed, and then they will work on the twine. |

We were having issues with our international 409 baler running 9600 sisal (which was what was recommended). Dad swore up and down the twine was smaller than it used to be. Found an old piece in his haymow and he was right. Switched to 7200 and never had trouble again.
