Can someone tell me the proper color logo and name decals to use on a 1950 WD? I see black and blue versions but cannot figure out which is the correct color for my tractor.
Thanks for your help in advance.

I think that year 1949 used Blue lettering only; after that lettering was black. Did Blue lettering also have long "A" and long "S"? Others will be on shortly...................R. Musgrave

The black ALLIS CHALMERS with all even letters started in January 1950, so this would be the correct decal for yours. However, the "WD" on the radiator shell did not start until June 1951 so yours would not have this, just the name on the hood. No diamond logos anywhere on the tractor. This info came from the book "Original Allis Chalmers" by Guy Fay which I highly recommend if you want a correct restoration.

I dunno... I drove a '49 WD and the WD logo was there on the radiator shell as plain as day.

I have a picture of my '51 when it was original and there was no decal, I think it must be one of the last ones without it.

It's a LOT easier to add a decal than to get rid of one without repainting over the evidence! |

I agree. When I was a kid, Dad had a 49 WD with faded original paint and it had the WD logo on both sides of the hood. I doubt anyone added the logo. |

Except I'm speaking of back in the early 1960s. The paint was already half faded. The logo was appropriately faded to match the paint. |

There is no evidence that I have ever seen that a WD had that decal before 1951. I've looked at many color pictures in sales brochures, old films. Lyle Wacker told me the exact serial number and what year when Allis used that decal years ago when I ordered decals for my '52 WD. I did not write it down. I would guess anyone who drove an older WD with that decal, drove that tractor after a decal was added. Allis simply did not decal those tractors and I'd bet if someone could find a parts book dated 1949, no decal would be listed.

I've owned 2 1951 WDs and 1 1950 and still have 2 of them. One was repainted so cant count that one but the others had original paint and the decals are still visible, there is NO WD decal on them.
