Along the road I saw a D15 for sale. So I stop and have a look and notice it is a series II (late 1963 by the serial number). The funny thing was that it had a factory 3 point hitch but NO power steering. I found it unusual that someone would pay extra for a 3 point but not pony up a few more for power steering. I figured by that time that most of these tractors would have had power steering...
Anyone else come across one like this? The guy is asking $3000. A bit on the high side for what it was, but I'll keep an eye on it. http://www.kijiji.ca/v-farming-equipment/oshawa-durham-region/allis-chalmers-d15/1167681817?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true |

3k is an ok price if it's not a gear jumper and the 160 engine runs good
No power steering will hurt it's functionality if you plan to use for more than a show tractor. Although most of them had it, it was technically an option so it's possible there are some out there. An odd duck indeed |

run down there with yours and show him what a good lookin one looks like... and then see if he drops his price. LOL
the three point looks like a combo of after market and production lift arms. |

Those three point hitches will fall out of the bottom of the tractor when used hard and the bolts haven't been kept tight. Until the D17IV came out AC had a very poor design for a 3PT. The Snap Coupler and factor adaptor was better.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

I really like your D-15!!!!!!
If your area was anything like ours, price was a big selling factor when buying a tractor back in the 60's. I'm wondering if the dealer purposely left off the power steering so he could sell it cheaper. When Dad bought our 1970 180, our local dealer had 38 of them in stock (can you imagine a dealer stocking 38 of one model today?). He had one with 38" rubber. I was a 15 year old kid and I liked the look of the higher tires, but Dad wasn't going to pay $100 more for higher tires. I wish he had!!! |

We had a W C tri and traded for a D/14 wide front without power steering and the difference was like half the effort.

Thanks Calvin, I'll keep you in mind. I don't need the tractor, but we know a neighbor that might be interested in having the tractor for his new property. The power steering would be a bonus.
