Is there any hope for a cylinder head with damage in the injector seat area where the copper washer goes?  Could it be machined down and had a small sleeve or spacer installed?

I should mention that it has already been surfaced and had all new valves and seats installed.      Id rather not explain why![]() Edited by CAL(KS) - 23 Mar 2014 at 7:30pm |

Has to be awfully bad to not seal with a new copper washer installed the correct way and bolts torqued up tight. There used to be a tool to dress those up if they got damaged, but I don't have one.

I have taken a endmill and turned it by hand to smooth it up.   MACK

Dr.allis, would a " counterbore tool" like machine shops use, work to re- surface the area around the injector? I have a set in my shop that has a hole in the end of each counterbore ,with a set screw , I just turn out the size of the pilot needed to fit the hole on the work piece , in my turning lathe, insert it into the end of the counterbore, tighten the set screw ,and it is ready to use.

Like Dr.Allis said copper is very forgiving, if you do machine it too much, the injector tip can hit the piston + you said head has been surfaced, so be careful.  GOOD LUCK
