dad thinks the 73 M 130 hp version (opposed to the 120 hp standard) may have had the simms.
I dont think the simms made it past 73, but it may have. Dr. Allis is spot on on the L's. we have one 73 L hydro with the simms that actually starts ok, otherwise they dont seem to start as well as the Roosa's

Gleaner: the properly engineered and built combine.
If you need parts for your Gleaner, we are parting out A's through L2's, so we may be able to help. |

I have a 3500 MK II industrial engine with a Simms (Minimec) pump and.048 injector tips.
Best I can figure it is the 224 HP setup. Added an intercooler and put it in my 220.
Dynos 190Hp without touching the settings. Starts like a new modern tractor.

if anyone is looking for a simms powered 301, we have one that ran when parked, may have a few more, just need to check what the parts combines have in them. one for sure in NW KS.
did the construction equipment use the simms more than the roosa? it seems the farm equipment didnt use the roosa very much.

Farm equipment almost exclusively used RoosaMaster pumps! Simms in-line was the odd-ball on Farm equipment and never on an AC tractor and only 1972 and 73 Gleaner combines, maybe a 74 model, but I've never seen one. Out of all the hundreds of Gleaner combines I've worked on since 1975, I can only remember seeing THREE of those orphan 301/Simms engines.

A local contractor has a 605B loader which came with the Simms pump. The engine went on it, so he installed an M engine. Now they call it "the jackrabbit"- the acceleration characteristics are quite different, and it is harder to maintain a constant speed- the roosa master seems to be more sensitive than the inline pump.
