We have acquired the blue prints to the D21 under hood muffler. It's supposed to be 8 inches round. My question is, would it hurt anything if we went 7 inches round. Trying to keep the heat away from the fresh paint. Also, anybody else interested in one? Don't know the cost yet.

I would be interested if was the proper size. You could always put some heat deflecting tape on the bottom side of the hood. Pullers use it i know. Imo

Not too practical to offer 2 sizes. I think if I was going to the trouble to acquire blueprints and build one,I'd make it like OEM. It should satisfy the purest and there can't be many others needing one. What I'm saying is,if I wanted a muffler for that app,I'd want the original thing even if it wasn't the smartest design.

Keep it 8 inches. I had to modify one since I could not find a original for my Industrail. I put Heat sheild and Insulation under the hood of my D 21l.
Thanks for sharing and keep us posted. Darryl
