D12 with throw out noise

I have a 1959 D12 that makes a lot of noise at the throw out bearing. Is the throw out bearing servicable or does it have to be replaced? Thanks in advance.

I checked in an Allis 'Operators Instructions Manual' for the early D-10 and D-12
 
and was suprised that there was no mention about lubricating the clutch release bearing.

Most T/O nearings I have seen are sealed bearings (it is adjacent to the clutch/pressure plate and grease is not compatable with them); believe the D12 has a sealed T/O bearing.
Is the noise constant...or is it noticeable when you depress the clutch? A constant noise indictates a worn T/O bearing; noticeable only when the clutch is depressed indicates a dry or worn pilot bushing/bearing.
One needs to split the tractor to service the T/O bearing and/or pilot bushinf/bearing. Sometimes, one can re-grease a T/O bearing similar to regreasing wheel bearings; however, its probably best to replace the T/O bearing seeing as how much is involved to access it, and the cost of a new one is reasonable.
What this country needs is more unemployed politicians-and lawyers.

Worth noting on the newer units where a perceived throw-out bearing noise had us scratching our heads. Sounded like the throw-out bearing but all had been replaced with new. Turned out we needed to make a new bushing at the rear of the hollow quill shaft as the worn bushing noise travelled forward through the torque tube.
Drove us nuts on a late 1960 D12, equipped with live hydraulics and live PTO.

Aetna offered a greasible throwout bearing for the D series. Use common sense and grease sparingly. HTH Tracy Martin
