You may have done the gravel thing but you need to coat the inside, I use Red Kote

I did the red kote thing . I cleaned out the inside of the tank first by putting nuts and bolts in it and rotating it . I did this over a year ago and it works great. You need to follow directions on the box and seal it .

Well, there are a few ways. The best thing is to always leave the tank full of fuel as this will help prevent the tank from rusting. The best way is to use electrolysis as it will remove the rust and help prevent it from forming again. There is a thread on here with details, search for the word 'electrolysis' here and on Youtube. One of the easiest, but dangerous, is to remove the petcock, screw in a section of pipe with a runner hose attached, or connect a rubber hose to the outlet. Add several bottles of The Works toilet bowl cleaner (Hydrochloric acid), fill to the top with water. Let it sit for several hours . Drain fuel tank into a bucket. Now plug the hose, and fill tank with a mixture of baking soda and water. The baking soda will neutralize the acid, let it sit for 20 minutes. Now dump in some isopropyl alcohol, drain put some gas in, drain and then fill to the top with gas. The good, your tank will look like new inside. The bad. You must wear safety gear; gloves, goggles, and a mask rated for harmful vapors. Hydrochloric acid is very harmful and should also be disposed of properly. IF you don't neutralize the acid, it will continue to eat at your tank. Here is a a link. http://www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/Removing_rust_from_a_gas_tank#The_Works_.28toilet_bowl_cleaner.29 |

use a small extention pipe attached to the sediment bowl to go inside the tank about an inch, will help to keep from sucking rust off the bottom of the tank.

There are 3 ways to do job GOOD, FAST, CHEAP. YOU MAY CHOOSE 2. If its FAST & CHEAP it won't be GOOD, if it's GOOD & CHEAP it won't be FAST, and if its GOOD & FAST it won't be CHEAP!!!!
