That looks like it might be a little top heavy. Very interesting machine! Never seen anything like it! Post a video of it in action for us.

That's a great find!! I think there are not very many of that model.Most of the pickers you see are the 616's where the tractor is reversed under the picker.

WOW! There aren't many of those left! That one is in very nice condition, must have been inside it's whole life. Be sure to post up videos.

I've parted out a 616 to get the tractor out from under it before. I also know where there is another 616 if it hasn't been sent to china yet. Fascinating how they were integrated onto the tractor base.

The clutch and brakes are worked with hydraulic master/slave setups similar to what you see in automotive applications.  The slave cylinder for the clutch mounts on the floor plate and the brake slaves mount to a bracket that bolts to the transmission just beneath the floor plate.
 
The electrical has a pigtail that slips under the hood on the right side and has eyelets that bolt into the tractor's main harness around the battery & starter relay area.  It even has the same color and gauges as the tractor which made it easy to see where each one went.
 
The steering has a chain drive that is turned by the wheel on the picker that in turn drives a universal shaft that bolts onto the tractor's steering wheel using a triangle shaped plate.
 
The transmission is shifted with a rod linkage assembly.  Its interesting to shift, the shift pattern is upside down and backwards!
 
All the other controls pto, range, throttle ect are all done through rod linkage as well.

We hope to do a little playing in the field with it one of these days.  There's still somemore work to get her ready for the field.  The head unit is currently stuck most likely due to sitting on the ground and rusting up the bottom drive chain.  It will sure be neat to see it working.

I will get some better pics of the controls next time im on the farm.  It is pretty interesting how they mate up.
