Just got the latest issue.  What model is the AC on the back page?  Owned by Doug Solinky in Newark, Vt.  Anyone on the forum know anything about it?

John I just got mine last night and saw that tractor. It looks like a unstyled wc but the frontend doesn't. It looks factory to me but I've never seen one before. I wondered if they ever made a wc industrial? Also some interesting reading about the start of the AC B.

I wonder if someone made a special front frame cover to mount something.  Among other things, that frame cover sure limits the front axle articulation-----------so I don't think it would have been factory.

By the looks of it, everything from the oil filter down the shaft to the front wheels is farmer engineered. The front frame rails are cut off short and the front tires appear to be low profile. The steering gear on the outside of the frame is something Allis didn't do on WC's.
The steering wheel looks like a WF wheel???

Interesting how they used an automotive steering box and bypassed the original steering gears altogether.

Brian, with the frame rails cut off, there is no place for the pedestal to mount and since the steering gear was inside the pedestal they would need to add something.

I think that is a front pedistal rolled 1/4 turn. See the 4 bolt holes on top. They did cut a hole to poke a b type crank through it to start it. Do you suppose the axle pivots on the main shaft of the original steering? I also noticed what Mark said that it doesn't look like it would pivot very far but I think a clear side view might show that the front end sets far enough behind that it will pivot.

I've changed my mind. I don't see the square plate that would be on the top of the pedistal. I do think that it's held on with the cut off part of the frame rails and I can see paint wore off where it hits when it pivots.

The frame rails are cut off and turned down 90 degrees. The pedestal would have a top cover plate showing and is not that flat. I don't believe any part of the pedestal is in there.

I'm hoping someone in Vt will drive by and look at it.  Or maybe someone could give them a call to see if the owners know the story.
Did anyone see the "G" pedal tractor at auction on pg 81?  Neat idea, wonder if it is home made or a small run factory toy.
Also, is Benjie Schultz, of "Making Tracks" on pages 92 & 93 a member of our forum?

Every issue I have gotten from them so far has a tractor similar to the WC in the picture above. Its always a picture of a old tractor that has been sitting outside in the weather, most of the time with little paint left on it.

The back cover has been used for Yard Art or Fencerow Finds ever since I've gotten the magazine.
