Do not know the brand but it has a 40 HP gear box on it. Looks like a 250.00 mower to me.

Can you tell that by the general size of the gearbox?

Just for comparison, I'm selling my 6 foot for $600.00. A guy is supposed to come get it this weekend. It has dual tail wheels, stump jumper and floating top link. I do not know the brand of it either.

Looking at that deck top I would check the pin hole for the blades for wear as the blades have hit the deck from being loose or worn bad at the swing point.
Something isn't right under there !

Don't quite agree with Robert, looks more like $150 to me. Good eye, Coke, something is not right under there. Also I do not see a slip clutch on it. No slip clutch puts way too much of a shock load on your pto system. You should be able to find one in much better condition for the same money.

What is it about brush cutters that cause so many of them to be missing their PTO shields??

That new paint does not make it worth that much!!! He was covering up a rusty, beat down mower in my opinion. Ryan

I think the square tube supports on top were just added. My bushhog squealer broke in the corners and let the top settle and it rubbed the same circle that this one has. I had the same idea to fix mine. I bought the squealer for $250 when it was like new.

Coke,
I have a Bush Hog Squeeler 5' which I run behind my WD and sometimes the D-17.
Not a real high quality mower, but it serves the purpose.
I have some of those circullar impressions in the top of my deck as well.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the stump jumper, the pins or the blades.
It acquired those scars while bushhogging a field with many 2" bushes and saplings.
The chopped wood runs around between the blades and the deck and does the damage.
Makes a he!! of a racket while it's doing it too!

another vote on it being way overpriced
you can buy a new howse for $150 more
i am not a big fan of Howse but they are as strong as that old ford brand,
they are the only company that sold a mower that was squared off and not rounded at the rear, or at least they are the only one's i ever seen
that setup will require a shear pin but you can add a slip clutch if you wanted one at a later date, i like a shear pin better than a slip clutch in some instances, a proper grade shear bolt will shear, a frozen clutch will rip the pto out of your tractor if you are not carefull
just do not use Grade 8 * bolts in the shear point
if you can find some good grade 3 bolts they will do fine, but most grade 3 bolts i find these days are from china and are so soft they will break in short grass, so i use grade 5 in my old 6"woods trail unit, grade 5 will give before damaging the driveline and i have been using them for years Edited by ky wonder - 13 Jun 2012 at 12:43am |
