Allis B vs Allis C steering

Can anyone tell me if the steering gear and associated compents (up to the steering wheel) from an Allis C can be bolted on to an Allis B? 
Basically, could I pull the parts off of a salvage C and bolt them on to a B?  Any hazards associated with ths idea or would it be fairly straight forward?

I know the hook-up from the steerig gear box to the front end is different.

	It WILL bolt up, but your tractor will turn the opposite way that you turn the steering wheel....... That can make things exciting if you are not paying attention, or if someone else drives your tractor!

	The B and C are the same from the transmission foward. If you exchance everything it will work fine. The steering gear does turn backwards to each other so change it too. Joe

	Yeah, what Joe said. If you change the steering box along with the front end, you will have a narrow front B. You could also put C finals, Seat bracket, rock shaft, etc on a B and have a two-row B, or just a wide front C, which they made quite a few of. Think the WF Cs had adjustable axle though. Somebody correct me if i'm wrong. Brings up another interesting question from me. Never been around a WF C. Was the steering box on it reversed from the NF, or did they do something with the steering linkage up front to reverse it? Sorry, not trying to highjack the post.

	Are you wanting to use a B frontend and a C gear box? It can be done but it takes some fabrication. The B and C steering arms have different splines and don't swap. You can use a C steering arm pointing up and weld the ball end from a B on it and it will work. It's not a direct bolt up deal. There is a Pic of one in Norms book and I made a copy of it a few years ago but I don't think AC ever produced any. The tractor second from the right is my B/C You can see the steering arm pointing up.

	Thanks for the replies, guys! Ok, it was a good thought but probably not the best course of action. The short story is that my Gemmer steering gear leaks badly. I took it apart, and it needs a complete rebuild including the bearings. Apparenty, bearings are not easy to come by so I thought maybe it would just be best to locate a replacement gearbox that doesn't leak. Then I discover that the steering shaft isn't in great shape, and the shaft tube is bent. So then I'm thinking if I could just grab everything right off a salvage tractor from the steering wheel down to the gearbox, I'd be all set. I'll be attending the LeSueuer, MN swap on Friday so I wanted to keep my eyes open for the right parts. If it were ok to look at C parts as well, then I would do that. But I think I'll just limit my search to parts for the B. Next question: do the Ross and Gemmer units bolt up the same way? Provided I get the pitman arm and the steering shaft/worm gear all together as a complete unit will I encounter any problems? Ideally, I'd just find the right Gemmer components and go from there. But who knows what a guy will find at a swap meet, right? Kyle

	Ross and Gemmer will swap back and forth as a whole unit. Allis did that during production when they ran short of Gemmers. If you look at the parts book, you will see the serial ranges where they substituted them.
