What is the difference between the gearing on the 175 and 185 final drives? I put 185 finals on my 175 and was wondering if I will notice a difference?

Hi DrAllis, wasnt there a serial number break where some of the later 185's were geared different than the earlier ones? If so was this done at the ring and pinion or in the final drives? |

No........later 180's ( and maybe most 185's) had 1st gear in the transmission slowed down for PTO work, but that was the only gearing change ever.

the "crop hustler" package, weren't they sped up to pull the same implement but just to go a little faster? or did they just turn up the RPM's on the motor?

I think it was just a catchy name Matt. Allis did promote speed up throttle back use of their tractors as a way of saving fuel and when you upgraded to higher HP and didn't need to get bigger equipment. Case had a similar promotion.
