How much do you think it weighs?
That will give you the best estimate. |

To buy basically the torque tube back without wheels, if I read correctly, I wouldn't give over $200.00, if you choose to part it out, then yes the individual parts are worth more, but not as a whole unit, very few people are looking for castings, they just don't break, this is what keeps the price down.

I picked up the back half of a C about like what's left of your B (torque tube, transmission, foot brakes, steering box, etc. minus wheels) for $50. I only wanted the drawbar parts but the guy just wanted it gone... and this is a guy that sells AC parts and tractors. If it had been worth too much he probably wouldn't have dumped it on me. I was glad to have the foot brake conversion though.
AC made thousands of B tractors with the hand brakes. I forget which year they switched to foot brakes... '42 or so? That would make about 50,000 or so of them with hand brake levers, a little less than half of the total Bs produced. I'm with Orange Blood, $200 tops. Everything would have to be in nice shape.

IF you took it apart and sold the transmission seperate or individual shafts and gears, you might get more.. but there are a lot of cheap Bs out there that dont run and its easy to get a "package deal" on a whole tractor and then everyone has the spare parts.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

After you get done with all the work to tear it apart and find buyers and pack it and ship it, you will think that paying scrap price was probably too much. If you got nothing else to do, perhaps, but I can sure understand how the guy that got rid of his for $50 was really happy it was somebody elses problem!
Good luck in your parts venture, I hope you do well.

wjohn, they switched to foot brakes in mid 1941, around serial number 56,xxx.... Slightly more than 1/2 had foot brakes from the factory.

I have a hand brake B in so-so condition and a stuck motor (but complete) with good rear turf tires I intend to list for $425 when spring arrives. I know it's not what you want to hear, but $200 as you've described it may be a stretch.

After you figure the cost of fuel for the trip to haul it home, (unless it is next door), you will end up on the wrong side of the ledger most likely.
Go buy the dang thing, and chalk it up to fun expense... That way you don't have to get all stressed out over what it is worth. I can tell you from experience, when you got your money tied up in a broken down old tractor that you gotta sell off enough to break even, it takes a bunch of fun out of the whole experience. I got cured by doing it, maybe you should just go get cured too. Then you can forget about making money off these old animals and just go have some FUN! I stopped keeping track of the money spent, and started keeping track of the good times I had, then I come to find out, I'm WAY AHEAD of the game!!!

Wasn't thinking of getting rich by any means was just curious as to whether it was worth the same money as a 1950bunch model for instance I am starting to feel I should not have asked this question but sometimes ya get more than you bargained for I didn't give anything for it nor have I offered parts for sale just merely a reasonable question to know what the value of what I have on hand is it was given to me by a neighbour that was scrapping everything that he didn't want and that's the only allis piece he would turn loose of he's hardcore orange has farmed 240 acres for long before I was a twinkle he has approximately 15 tractors all orange and the newest a d15 I think all in their work clothes he told me if I wanted it to load it before the scrap man did so I have it I may put it together one of these days if I can find the stuff on my budget who knows but I was curious of value thank u all

ewbs...sounds as if there is an area of skeptasism in your purchase.if you like the tractor and it is what you want, get it.as i said i have 12 wd-45,s,gas and 4 diesels.out of the flock i only had one,a diesel that got into more than i had expected.in engine work.if you are like me i am a retired airline mechanic and i really enjoy it when that old buda 230 turns over about 2 times and just purrs.hook it to a pull sled and the black smoke bellows and you can experience the pride, frustrations and time well spent in your efforts.you think a lot like i do.price, cost to get it up to specs and time (if that is of essence).i like to think down the road as to what it will be worth to my children and their children.you really cannot get a good answer in a forum like this.we are all individuals in life and thouhgts.if you want it...go for it
