Around this part of mo. when you bought a new piece of AC. eqpt. it always had used tires on it ie. disk- corn planter etc. did all dealers put used tires on eqpt ? or was this something that just our local dealers did? thanks tom

as AC explained it...when i worked for them, they weren't in the business of selling tires....so they put on anything they had laying around that was cheap after they got done putting a piece of equip together! helped clean up around the shop!

Other than on tractors and combines, tires were the responsibility of the dealer. Plows (tailwheel and depthstop wheel), discs, running gears, planters, etc. only came from the factory with the bare rim or wheel. We had a Texaco gas station next to my Dad's dealership and we got most of our tires from him. He had all the right tools so he mounted them also. Most wagons got all new implement tires as I recall. I think most of the implements got new tires too, but if there were good used tires the service station had, they might make it onto an auger or something that might not get a lot of road use. Been a long time ago to remember for sure. |

The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?

Well the tailwheel on my dad's plow for the 45 diesel is a white wall car tire that is bald. I always thought my dad put it on there as he was very frugal, but now I know it probably came from the dealer that way.

Our rotobaler and chopper had new ribbed tires....the 212 disc and 4 row lister had 14" unmatched car tires. Our AC feeder wagon had a Huskee running gear with car tires....

I do remember a hayrake that ended up with snow tires on it. Looked goofy but the lugs probably helped.
