Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about a Menards card?  I signed up for one today since I buy a lot of stuff at Menards.  It is the first card I have.

They said 0% interest if paid in full within 12 months.

Been using one for many years. Watch for promotions. That is when it can really pay.

Back in 06 they had a 4% for 2 years on purchases over $3000, on top of the 0% for 1 year. I used the heck out of it. My bank was at 9% back then. After you filled out a pile of papers. Maybe.
Local lumberyard wanted to be paid up every 30 days and was 10% higher on lumber.
I spent about $9000 at Menards that year. Last time I have really used it in volume.

In the early days, like 1999, I could use it for a long distance card too. Rates weren't the greatest but I did use it a couple times from a payphone.

I think after your promotional time wears off you need to spend $300 to get the 1 year 0%.

Seems that most Menards have a Lowes nearby.

Did ya know thta Lowes will give anyone that has some sort of proof of being a veteran an automatic 10% off.

I found this out after i finished building the house.  Sigh!

We have a Home Depot card with the same deal.  But you have to make sure you pay it off with in a year or else they will charge you interest on the amount from the time of purchase.

I've used both Menards and Lowe's with the no interest deal. Both have been fine, no problems. I used the Menard's card to do one bathroom reno and the Lowe's card two years ago to do the master bath reno. I paid them off on time and saved many dollars by buying the promotions and keeping the purchases above the $300 line to take full advantage. We have a Home Depot card, but never use it as the nearest one is an hour away.

I also use the card quite a bit with the remodeling of my house, they have great promotions, BUT watch the due dates, if they offer 0% for 6 months or 12 months you better have them paid off in 5 or 11 months. If you misss that due date you have to pay all the back interest. There old style of the bills were very easy to understand, the newer style of bill is harder to figure out the promotion due dates.
Unless your are the lead horse the scenery never changes!!

If you take advantage of then extended payment program be certain to read the close to final billings real close. Given the wording you may think you have another month at no interest and get burned.

Just acquired a Menard's card, promotion was 2% credit at end of year. Just did some work on the barn and wish I had it sooner.

Haven't gotten one yet, but heard from my Sister that you can use it at Kwik Trip's and it will give you (I think she said) 4% back off gas.  That is better than Kwik Trip's (I think)  $.03 per gallon.

Dave H (and others); the Lowes clerk told my wife about the 10% vets discount when wife used USAA charge card to buy Bosch 18V cordless drill on sale. Clerk said it had been in effect the two years she worked there.

I have one i've been using to remodel my house. The no interest is only good on items over $200. Interest rate is kinda high, 29%, but i've been mostly paying it off each month. I got it with the thought i'd save money, but i don't think its paying for itself.

I have had a Menards card for years. I use it every time I do a new building project. Sometimes they offer 6 months and sometimes 1 year no interest, but as stated be sure to pay it off in time or they go back and charge you the interest from day one. You have to charge at least $299.00 or more, that is never a problem for me!!! I like having 6 mo. or a year to pay for it instead of shelling out the cash all at once.

When I built our house both my wife and I had Home Depot cards and took advantage of any offers linked to them. The rest I put on the Discover Card...the first year we got over $1000 back from Discover...a nice little dividend. I also found out you could only pay them off every 8 days minimum as a few times we were at our $10k limit  within a week.....

Are you sure it's for all veterans?  I have a USAA credit card that I pay with and they always want me to bring in my military ID card for a discount when they see the USAA card. I'm an ex-officer with "indefinite" stamped on my old ID card.  I never turned it in after my release from active duty after the 90-91 Persian Gulf thing. I keep the card as a souvenir but feel I'd be abusing the system if I used it for anything.

Research has shown that a person paying with a credit card will buy 18% more than cash.  As for paying it before the interest hits - play with snakes and you'll get bit!  :)   If you haven't guess yet, our family choose to not use credit!

Hello Mike    Go for it   We remodeled our house this year, got a Mernards contractors card.  There was an 11% promotion so we ordered over $13,000, their credit limit was $4,000 so we put the rest on discovery, "1% back" got their rebate in March and they had another 11% promotion now does that mean we got 22% +1% on our second purchase???
