After two years and chasing a number of the little things before headed to paint, one small leak has yet to be resolved on a D12 restoration.
The end caps on the back side of the two spool valve body are leaking a small amount of hyd fluid, via the material in the cap that acts as a tattle tale for bad seals in the rear caps of the spool body.
Although this fence row find was without internal corrosion for the most part, the caps were found rusted and pitting will not allow the o-ring to seal. The valve body itself was in good shape and I can only assume moisture made it's way in through the vent material from setting outside for years without being used. We tried slightly larger o-rings but cannot overcome the pitting in these caps and I need to seal em up before having it painted.
Does anyone know if the spool valve assemblies (rear caps) on any other D-Series are interchangable, or where I can find both caps?
This is on a D-12SII with factory 3-point and yes they do exist with the constant rear pump for live PTO and hydraulics.
I will get into the parts breakdown CD tonight and try to post the part number, and maybe someone can post a picture if I can get over to the shop and take some this week. Maybe also post the parts blow-up so folks can see exactly what I'm seeking.
Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks

Tracy Martin where are you? Sounds like and easy fix if you got a lathe and some steel to turn. I have a lathe here(older than dirt South Bend). If you can't come up with something, give me dimensions and I'll see what I can do. Charlie

Not sure how critical that vent hole is - I have one that has been sealed with some braze material. I have used the hydraulics some - not often or heavy - and have not noticed any difference in performance. If you are going to pitch the part anyway - may try to seal it up and check operation.

Thanks guys,
Charlie, my mechanic can make em as well but knows I want them to be original (or look very close) as alot of work went into this old gal since pulling it out of the weeds five years ago. Wish I had your lathe as been many years since I played with one.
Tracy,
Definitely headed up to the northeast to get my D19D myself during March break so I can drop the A-C cutter off at your place on the way up if you still want to scope out the factory 3-pt. hitch for making yours. I'll PM you on the end caps as I need to get over to the shop and look at it closer myself.
Thanks guys!

I just had to replace one of those on my D-12. The only parts source is salvage. I was lucky in that someone on this board had an inoperative valve and sold me a cap.

Show me a picture. There must be a way to reproduce these so the discriminating eye doesn't notice they are reproductions.
