so today i was surfing craigs list and i came acrost a post saying old tractor. i click on it and see it s a 1977 chevy 65 cabover truck. looked neat sio i call the number and it was less than 5 miles away. so i go over and look at it. the frame and such is in great shape has the 366 gas motor in it but the cab has alot of rust. inside is great and has the 4 speed with spliter. doe s anyone on here have one or have an idea what kinda value it has if anything over scrap? i love the looks and its nice that its reg. under 25000lbs and would be classic and no cdl needed. any help would be great. the lady selling is is asking 2100 and seems firm. i would love to grab it to move the tractors around to local shows and such. would love to grab it for under 1500 but dont thing thats gunna happen.

If the tires and motor are good, the $2100. seems very fair.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

If it runs and as steve said if the tires and motor are good $2,000-$2,400 is a fare price.

I don't know what a 77 chevy would look like, but I love those old cabovers from the 40-50's...  could they be any cooler looking?...  I don't think so.  I'd love to have one.

Parts are a little scarce for the old Low Cab Forward trucks GM and Ford made towards the last of their days in Medium trucks, a lot of yards still have pieces for them but cab components could be tough to get.  I am in the utility industry, we used to have a lot of these but they are all gone now.

We had a 1965 Chevy Spartan with a 409. That's right I said a 409. It had hydraulic brakes and clutch. Clutch and brake parts are hard to find. I was an old firetruck.

Actually, the 409 originated in trucks and was only used in cars as a stop-gap thing until the 366-454 engine block was released.  Still, it's a rare engine.

You guys are bringing back a lot of memorys. Had a '65  GMC 72" cabover tractor with the 702 V-12 gas, a '73 GMC 72" Cabover tractor with a 427. Two 409 425 hp engines, one which was in a A/Gas drag car with injection etc.etc. Had the gasser engine in a modified tractor for a year and soon discovered that the deepest pockets were the winners and I was in no position to be in that game.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed
