do the number one and three conn rod piston pin clamp bolt face the cam and the number two and four face away from the camshaft does this sound right thanks for the help |

I don't remember if it is those #'s but 2 face one way and yhe other 2 face the opposite way, It's do to the offset for the bearings, Bob

Look at the offset on the rod caps. When in doubt watch close as the rod bearing locates on the crankshaft. If it is correct it will be centered on the journal. If it is backwards it will not center and if you attempt to tighten a rod cap it will bind on one side.
The picture will also show you which way they go.

short side of rod cap goes toward the main bng. believe it or not they will run when they are in there awrong. my D14 had 2 in wrong when I bought it . It ran but not very well. It had other back yard overhall problems also.
