Rattling noise in engine of D17, series3

Today, while the tractor was idling, I noted a rattling noise from the front of the engine. It appeared to originate near the belts. It appeared that the belt appeared to stretch and contract while the engine was running. The belt to the alternator did not appear loose. Due to a time constraint, I did not look further. I had the engine rebuilt last year. Let me say that I am no a mechanic. Any ideas of possible causes. Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

Get a good hold on the fan blades. Wiggle back and forth to see if any play in water pump. Do the same with generator or alternator.

Possibly the soldering broke loose on fan shroud and fan blades are contacting loose shroud?

Water pump. Generator bearing. LOOSE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY.

I vote for the loose crank pulley! Many years ago, my set. III had a rattle noise, sent it to dealer for repairs expecting serious consequences - hauling bill was lot more than bill to tighten the set screw!
