Now the next question, I have points in, she starts right up and runs for about 15 seconds then starts sputtering and dies, I have checked the gap twice and it seems good, I assume I have a new problem or is it still the points.

does it fire right back up after it dies ? Normally you would think GAS flow... but could be a coil or condenser starting to fail... normally they will get a lot worse very quickly.... you might have a coil that can FIRE 100 times, then quit... its possible.

That is something I am going to look at, because when I installed the points and gapped them, it started right up and ran great, I shut it off, put the sheet metal back on, and tried to start it, it would start run 15 to 20 seconds then start acting up and die, the more I tried to start the shorter time it ran until it would not start period. Wait an hour or so and it would do the same thing all over again. I think I have a coil in the shop, going to try that. Getting fuel to the carb, checked that.

Pull the plug in the bottom of the carb and see how long the full flow of gas lasts. Also might be something blocking the jet that will come out when you pull the plug

Only way to really tell that is take the line loose at the carb and see if you have a good steady gas flow.

I've come across a mystery like that once on one of Dad's B's. After swapping distributors with different internals it ran perfect. I decided to go over this with a 'fine tooth comb'. The long and the short... 'the hinge' on the points was too tight. It would run a few minutes totally normal then abruptly die, and then after sitting a few minutes it would start fine simply to repeat. An easy fix in the end.
