Reminds me(kinda) of a neighbor I worked for many years ago. They said that starting farming they could not afford a corn planter, so they used their grain drill and closed off certain drop tubes, and use the tire marks for spacing. They said the fields looked horrible early on, but by harvest time, the fields looked like everybody else’s.

JPG, interesting…? Thanks for sharing. So is my thinking correct that not applying a spring wheat herbicide translate into the following for your wheat crop?
1. No yield reduction from injury from wheat herbicide?
2,.No expense for wheat herbicide?
3. Organic (Non-GMO) wheat premiums?
4. Any cultivator/tractor wheat injury will regrowth just fine?

Yes, more details please! This is a foreign concept to us in the states as most small grains are not cultivated like we do/used to do with our corn, soybeans, grain sorghum, etc. crops. Our wheat is typically planted in rows that are too narrow to cultivate between.
Is cultivating wheat the norm down there or is there a $ benefit to it if you are willing to put in the work, as AC7060IL is thinking?

No its not the normal thing here,it’s all no till and lots of chemical use. I built this year after a lot of trialing and testing and head scratching 😵💫. This is the only one of its type , a few companies in Europe make small ones, but not practical for my acres, and they are designed abit different.. I no till and use chemicals but have a trouble with resistant weeds and I’d really like to stop using them as it is a lot of dollars,especially when they don’t work. I sow on 12 inch rows, and at the moment use auto steer on rtx at sowing, and it goes in the allis for the cultivator but i have to constantly nudge to keep it on line. At 50ft i have had to make sure the weight was not too much for my 3pt. I have done about 500 to 600 acres so fr with it, really happy with it so far,it’s doing a good job.

JPG, you have an awesome Maroon Belly 7060. I don’t see the Power-Shift decal on its door, so assuming it’s a PD?
I’m also familiar with the GPS nudge. For 500-600 acres, a nudge still beats total manual steer especially on such a wide cultivator. What’s your resist weed ~ winter annual?
