Hey everybody. I posted to the forums a little while ago about my 7060 that had been sitting for 10 years.
I took a recommendation from injectioned and had my pump rebuilt. It pumps fuel up to the injectors and some is getting in because it smokes a little bit but not enough to make it fire off and run. I got a used fuel primer off a tractor graveyard that worked a lot better than my old one but leaks fuel like crazy when priming it up with fuel pressure. Is there anything i could do to maybe make my tractor get more fuel?
It’s getting some due to the fact it smokes out of the exhaust but not enough to make it run
Any recommendations would be great

Leave one injector line loose at the injector and start on 5 cylinders. A good hand primer doesn't leak and builds good pressure. Throttle up about half way. Battery charger to keep cranking speed fast.

Have someone give it a shot of ether as you turn it over. I’m not a fan of ether but will use it in this instance to get one started. Sometimes they just need a little help getting it started. Hopefully you found a good pump man, I send my stuff to Ed, never been disappointed and he always answers my questions quickly and backs his work.

I'll back the throttle off some and try it. Tried it at an idle and then full throttle and didn't make a difference. From what I can see, I have fuel up to all the injectors if I have the lines cracked. I have 2 batteries hooked up with a charger on each to make them charge fast so I can crank it over. With the small amount of smoke I'm getting it makes me assume it's not getting good fuel through the injectors. I am willing to try and rebuild my primer if it is possible. I looked up a new plunger and it was 60$ so i'd like to avoid that if possible

When I try even a small amount of ether it seems to slow to almost a crawl and you can hear it knocking on it. Either its really potent stuff or i'm using more than I realize. I had my pump rebuilt at a fuel pump rebuild place up here that we've sent 2-3 pumps to before and haven't had any issues yet! Fingers crossed.
I'm thinking its not pumping fuel through the injectors or i've still got air in the system someplace even though I have bled the pump with the screw out the bottom and got no air out of it. The primer is probably my issue but i'd prefer rebuilding my old one before stepping out and buying another one

I'll have to see if I can steal someone for a few minutes. Primer pumps the filter full and to the pump but if it has any real pressure at all it blows back out through the primer into your hand

If the pump is 180 degrees out of time it will start with ether and die.

I can't seem to get the right amount of ether to make it run and not just knock inside the engine. It either slows down too fast or it just sucks it right in and doesn't run

Best get some better batteries. I just went through this with a 7060 here. It had all the problems you described with yours. I put 2 new batteries I got last fall in it, opened 2 lines to injectors and had my accountant pump the primer. Once it would stay running I tightened the 2 loose lines. Made a mess but it is running. Reason for all the trouble is it has a bad transmission but I start it on occasion to keep the engine working. It ran out of fuel last fall and I let it sit till recently

A tractor that's been sitting should have the pump AND injectors serviced properly, this modern fuel gums everything up. Sometimes they will start and run ok just doing the pump, but when they are really bad, the nozzles are also stuck shut, and keep trying to force it, you'll end up seizing the head in the pump because there's no where for the injected fuel to go. The shop that did the work for you should have told you this. Good luck!

I to would recheck timing. Might not hurt to take off the valve cover check and see if any valves are stuck closed after sitting 10 years.
if fuels is getting out on your hand primer that means air can also get in. Agco sells new hand primers.

The engine has to SPIN fast to ever have a prayer of getting the injection pump to pump fuel and get the air bled out of it. It cannot crank for 5 seconds and then peter out. It must be fast and long winded to ever start. Don't use John Deere ether in a matter like this.

Engine needs to spin 800 RPM to start good. Slow cranking don't build enough heat to ignite the fuel. MACK
