What weight of oil should i use for the front spindle gear?
There is a pipe plug in the front of the spindle housing. Is that for draining the old oil?

probably had 140 wt gear lube in the beginning.. With the lower seal 70 years old and hard, you will be lucky if it has anything in it.... Should be replaced, by many will pump grease into the cavity so the lower and upper bearing will get SOME lube..

Book wants 250 weight but old seals won't hold it. I put a grease fitting there and filled it with grease, no leaks
