Wouldn't unfold my rotary hoe, but hydraulic top link worked fine. Switched hoses and then it'd unfold but the hydraulic top link would only extend.
So... Top set of couplers (remote lever closest to seat) works totally fine. Bottom couplers (lever farthest from the seat) only will run a ram one way. I tested pressures and the right port on the bottom remote will peg a 5000 psi gauge in the raise position and not return to zero unless put in float. Reads 2000 psi in the lower (forward level position) checked in the left port. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting? |

Cables are out of adjustment or worn out...how much slop is there when you move the lever?

The couplers usually are left is lift.....right is lower. Anyway I do not see how it is possible to read 5,000 psi anywhere when the pump only makes 2500 psi. So, quit using that valve until you figure it out. Test pump output at the tee cap on the side of the PTO valve. 2500 psi any lever activated and 350 to 600 psi at rest. 5000 psi should have exploded the pump by now. DID THIS VALVE EVER WORK RIGHT ??

Dr. Allis, that remote worked fine last week. Used that remote for the marker/fold and the one that's still working properly for the lift circuit on my corn planter last week. It is possible that there's something wrong with my gauge, but it has worked fine before.
One other bit of info. When the 3 point is in the partially raised position, pulling the non working remote lever back causes the 3 point to creep up a little. |

In the beginning of your story, I would have said you have a bad coupler(s) on the tractor. Then, you threw in this 5,000 psi claim, which I frankly can't believe. The 3-point is fine.

Thanks for the help. I investigated my gauge and the needle is loose, so if I had it at a specific angle, once it passed 1500 psi it'd go all the way around. So you are right on both counts. My gauge is faulty and I found one of the couplers has a poppet that doesn't spring back.
I swapped on a generic one and it works fine now. Can the originals be rebuilt or bought new at a reasonable price? I'd like to keep the original lever release if economical but otherwise I'll just swap on an aftermarket pair. |

That coupler is still readily available from AGCO. 72512838 cost is around 90 bucks. You have to use a spacer 70269167 to make it work. Spacer is around 40. I would not put the lever couplers on. Get these from AGCO and it will work correctly again. Those lever couplers leak after awhile and can be a pain.

HMMM,there's a lot I don't know. What do mean when you say "original lever release". Is that the type my 83 8070 has which is a flat metal piece you push to hook/unhook hyd hose coupler? My 84 8070 has a lever to flip to hook up under pressure. It appears to be what those Pioneer 9500's are. I mistakenly called that a "lever release" because the lever has nothing to do with releasing. I prefer this later style.

1983 8000 series is the same as any 7000 series. Your later 8000 series is the latest and last offering from A-C considered lever release style.

Ive got one 8070 with the original style and one with the later lever style. I like the later lever type because if something accidentilly gets unhooked with a little pressure on it I dont have figure out a way to pop the ball in the end to get pressure off and spray fliud everywhere
