Hi Everybody, been a long while since I've posted, but I am looking for suggestions.  I bought a 14' 2500 rock flex disc last fall on an online auction.  Claimed it only needed the bearings replaced in one gang.  Long story short it was put together missing a half spool and they ran it loose long enough to really do some damage.  I need one bearing housing and three bearings which I can get from Agco.  I can also get the half spools from agco.  My biggest problem is the rock flex disc's used back up washers behind each disc blade and I am in need of 5 of those, no longer available from Agco.  My full spools which are supposed to be the 9 inch spacing are also quite worn, I can get them from Agco as well, but I really can't justify over $200 a piece on them.  Wondering if anybody had ever fought this battle and found a way to get things fixed.  The closest thing I have found to match the spool is the spools from a JD disc which are reasonably priced aftermarket.  They have a concave washer welded to each end of the spool.  I also have 5 disc blades that got the hole wallowed out.  The best part about this disc is that I think the disc blades were replaced not many acres ago, so a few new blades shouldn't affect it's performance.  My thought was to replace these and try to make the back-up washers I need from my old disc blades.  I would have someone try to cut them out with a plasma cutter as long as it won't affect the temper of the metal.  Also open for any other ideas, or if someone would happen to have some of the back-up washers laying around and would want to sell that would be even better.  Thanks

you haven’t gotten to use it ha. Wounding what you think of it. I was thinking of looking for one.
When I bought my 2300 disk it had similar problems. We cut all the backing plates out of old disk blades with torch. Back then the middle spools weren’t that much money but were still a bit pricey. I just bought a few. I found the disk blades to be a bit thicker then the old backing plates so it kinda made up the difference of the wore middle spool. My thoughts As long as when it’s all together there’s enough thread on gang bolt to get it good and tight and stay tight.

I think it will be a nice disc, but I will have more in parts in it than I paid for it unfortunately.  Also looking for a few scrapers if anybody might have some, I know of someone who has a bunch of used from a 2300, but they are different than the 2500 according to the parts book.  $100 a piece from agco for scrapers.

If you can stand looking a things you build that are not perfect build your own parts.

I work some of the world most sticky clay, plus loose rocks that get stuck between blades and bends most factory scrapers. I had 2 x 3/4 bar stock bent not on a AC disc, but finally something that does not get bent. I also use torch cut old disc blades as washers. Even built several spools I used a few years. But have several old discs for parts now so put real ones in. I have used blade with holes that where a bit big and if tight they worked. With the parts discs welded axles together to put nuts on both ends of axle. Makes replacing a broken blade much faster. I am not any better than average welder, but do it when your are not hurried.  Lay them in a angle iron well, axle well  V ed lay a bead turn it over put a bead on the other side. Clean slag really well, even grind it out if you need, then 2 more beads. I do used 7018 rod, but never broken a welded axle.

looking at the parts book, i think the 2600 used bigger gang bolts, I really only need 1 spool and will probably just bite the bullet and get that.  Could see what you have for washers, they might work, even though the part numbers are different maybe I could make something work.

curious and thinking 'outside the box'.....
'backup washers' ?? what do they look like , size wise ??
I know some snowplows have LOTS of THICK, big Diameter washers on the 'feet' to get the blade just right...perhaps they can be used ?as 'backup washers' ?

So the back up washer is a concave washer that's probably 6 inches in diameter that sits behind each disc blade next to the spool.   I think they were only used on the rock flex discs.

Got er all fixed up, hopefully it holds together.  Made the 5 back-up washers from the bad disc blades I had.  Had the gang bolt welded up and ground back square, and replaced one full spool that was really worn with a new one. Got plenty of $$ into this project but I guess it will be a nice disc to use occasionally. If anyone had an extra furrow eradicator laying around I may be interested.  This one has one on one side but not the other.  Thanks.
