lot of D-21's used for pulling and of course with the 426 is the D-21 lighter than a 7000's series? I guess what im asking why so many more D-21's used in pulling than the 7000's series with the same engine?

Many years ago, I knew of a D-21 from Nebraska that pulled in 6,000 lbs or a little less. The D-21 had been in the 7200 lb class in the 1970's for a long time and then the Farmall guys started using 706 rear ends to get those 1066's down into that class.
