	I just drive my Astro to town. It has two 100 gallon tanks and then I have a mobile transfer pump setup with a draw pipe. I draw off what I need and the rest stays in the truck's tanks. I also ALWAYS add PowerService treatment for the prevailing weather whenever I buy fuel. This solves the water-in fuel issues as well as the gelling problem in colder weather. I never worry about does it have enough of the proper treatment, because I always add it myself. I learned from delivering fuel in trailer loads of fuel to all kinds of dealers, some properly treat, some just haphazardly treat and some don't bother to treat.
	If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

	How are you guys handling the tax issue for fuel used off-road, when you go to town and get it? Are there vendors that have off-road pumps anymore?
	I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

	I can go to the local Cenex, they have an off road pump with dyed fuel.

	Co-op here where we buy all of our gasoline and diesel has a dyed diesel pump for farm use

	Just be careful what you haul it with as any vehicle over a certain GVW will require Placards on it and you will need a Has Mat endorsement on your DL - Friend got stopped with his 1 ton PU at scale and he had oxygen tank and propane tank in truck bed - Cost him $500 fines . Size of container also may require markings as I believe 100 gal or less you can get by hauling but if capacity is over that you need container marked even in any GVW vehicle . Seems rules they make are out there to make $$$

	I believe that it has to be over 500 pounds for hazmat rules to take affect. That is why I just use the truck's tanks to haul my fuel. I only have the right tank plumbed to the engine and have an electric fuel pump as a crossover for longer trips. If I bring home gas I am always sure to drain it completely before getting diesel. In Maryland if you keep records of highway taxed fuel for off road use, you can get a tax rebate. Many places also have pumps for off road diesel. Also If you can prove that you pay the highway tax on off road fuel that is used in highway vehicles, it's OK. Satisfactorily proving you paid the tax is easier said than done.

	OK, I'm curious.. what's the price diff between on road/ off road ? Up here it's about 30 cents per litre, so $1.10 US$ per USG.

	I have the offroad diesel delivered to the shop at the same cost as if I picked it up at the bulk plant. I heat with waste oil and for that I had a 1000 gl tank rolled with two baffles installed. I set this onto my skid steer trailer and use either a 110VAC, or 12VDC electric pump to transfer waste oil from donor's tanks/barrels. I then use a 1" pneumatic double diaphragm pump to transfer from my portable tank to my outside settling tank which is them pumped into my indoor 400 gl boiler running/feeding tank. Never have had any problems and this has went on over 22 years now. No markings, placards of any type pulled behind my one ton pickup truck.

	Guy at our local off-road fuel place started turning off the pump if he sees you filling anything that doesn’t have a DOT approval on it. I always filled my 30 drum with diesel there when he’s not at the counter. Not sure what your(and my) insurance company would think if you were involved in an accident. Growing up my Dad would just set the 300 gallon tank on the trailer and take it to town to fill if the fuel truck couldn’t come when called. You’d be in fine city for doing that now.

	It has been 110 gal tank did not need a placard. But have not had any recent reports. But here you needed a permit for a tank over 110 gal. as well as the placard. So I assumed the 110 number was to allow you 2 55 gal drums. But government seems to love making the simple complicated. Had a friend run afoul of hazardous waste rules. He was picking up used cooking oil to burn in diesels. He had a license to haul hazardous waste, but the used cooking oil they wanted a different permit. Back to the original post. I don't see where hauling it makes any difference. Condensation is a function of temperature and humidity and how full the tank is. Not much difference of using 5 gal buckets to a big tank on a tailor you have to deal with condensation. At some point you need filters and drains to get the condensation away from the fuel. Well maybe if you haul your tank around in the rain and you a big gap in the way the pump sits in the bung.

	Know two fellas with 500gal storage tanks so can do in field services of Heavy Machines, they HAVE to Have placards and a Hazmat Permit, said UNDER 150 gallons of any form of oil is Okie Dokie but more goes to HAZMAT. Many tried to skirt the law by using MULTIPLE small tanks thinking was tank size, is In Total where issues come into play. 500 gallon of Farm Chemicals requires Placarding and a HAZMAT Cert on a driver license regardless the containers size if meets 500+ gallons in one vehicle or on one trailer.
