 Topic: D 14 Belt Pulley RPM

Looking for information on the operating speed of a D 14 belt pulley. Wanting to run a feed grinder setup with a pulley and would like to know what RPM the pulley on the D 14 runs, I can probably find a shaft tach but thought someone here may have information that would be helpful. thanks in advance for your replies

Engine speed at 1650 RPM, the PTO runs 540 RPM and belt pulley is 1384 RPM on a D-17. Similar numbers for a D-14.

D15 which is the same as your D14 has belt pulley RPM of 1384 @ 1650 Engine RPM, this gives a belt speed of 3260 Feet per Minute. Hope this helps.

Besides being way too fast, it is up in the air quite a bit compared to a PTO shaft normal location.

From the D14 Operating Instruction Manual Belt Pulley (optional)
Diameter 9" Face 6-1/2" RPM (1650 Engine Speed) 1384 Ft. per min. (1650 Engine Speed) 3260
D14 is the same as the other models as posted.

Dia of drive pulley X RPM devided by the dia of driven pulley = RPM of driven pulley This formula comes from the Machinerys Handbook 1914 edition pg 715. Flat belts work the best when run at certain speeds depending on what they were made of. 3000 feet per min can be used as a rull of thumb. All early belts were made from leather and there are still some around, if you find one it most likely is 100 years old. The world ran on flat belt power untill the V-belt came along and remember Allis Chalmers was right in there developing the V-belt system with what they called (tex rope drive )
