So we have an 8070 and 2 8050's with throttle in the console on the right side next to your leg. They do most of all the heavy work where you spend hours and hours in the seat. We have an 8010 that the only thing it does is spray, but it might run over 2,500 acres a year so it get lots of hours too. It has the throttle on the side of the dash. I do most of the planting and tillage with the 70 and 50's, dad does most all the spraying. When I get in the 8010 the throttle is not where it's supposed to be and when dad get's into the 8050 to do some brushhogging as he did today the throttle was not in the same place as the 8010 which he's been in all spring spraying.
It's instinct for me to reach for the throttle at my right leg in the 8010 and dad reaches for the throttle of the 8050 that aint there. So what are the options to move the 8010 throttle to the console, is there a kit available or do I need to go to a bone yard to get parts to move the 8010 throttle to the right side console? I've worked over a couple dozen of those and they work pretty well. Lengthen the lever inside the dashboard to double of what it is. This reduces the actual hand throttle movement by 50%. Flatten the throttle lever and then heat the bottom of it and pull the lever rearward a couple of inches. Now, full throttle is at 12 oclock and dead idle is much closer to the operator.

I prefer the way my 220 is with the throttle up near the steering wheel because my hand doesn't have to travel far to reach it. A 7000 series is similar but I've never been around an 8000 w/ lever on the dash. My 84 8070 has the side console throttle but it doesn't seem like an improvement over my 220. The fwd short throw hyd levers on the 220 are handier than those "behind the back" things in the 8070.

Even the two 220's I've had required tweaking to satisfy my picky desires. Heated the throttle lever an inch from the bottom and bent it to the rear, again the proper amount, to achieve full throttle at 12 oclock high.

Allis did offer a kit at one time, but I'm sure that they're unavailable today. Salvage yard is an option. It's a fairly involved project to change one over. You need to relocate the traction booster lever too.

This could amount to nothing more that Brain Part but has anyone thought of mounting a 12V linear actuator rite at the injector pump and installing a electic thottle lever switch where ever you desire on the console, mite be a fare bit easier than locating & installing oem thottle kit. Dave

My post was about trying to make all our 80xx the same, not really about making the early throttle position more user friendly. I appreciate the input. I may tackle it this coming winter.

if the levers /positions of them and all else is the same,i would think you could get all the console from a salvage tractor and switch em out....i'd bet it aint that simple

I converted an 8010 2 or 3 years ago. I had to have a couple brackets made and welded to the right fender down low for the turnbuckle to mount. I bought a console throttle from rosebud tractor in Illinois at that time. Had to buy a new throttle cable and eliminated the traction booster. It was a pain but it worked pretty well.

I put one in the 8050. To do it right, you will need the plate that all of the levers are mounted on plus the traction boost in the rear(I did not do it right). If I remember, Allis center punched the side wall where the boost lever mounts. Makes drilling easier.
On our mounting plate, I drilled a hole for the throttle pin and drilled a hole in an angle iron. This iron hole holds the inside of the throttle pin. I welded it to the mounting plate with the plate still in the tractor. Paint it gloss black, no one will ever know.
Well worth your time to make this change. I like things that match.

My thought was to delete (not hook up the cable) the traction booster as the tractor never uses it. Thanks for the replies. Sounds do-able. Just need a some donor parts. Just a thought, could the new throttle cable simply be hooked to the lever that is already there? Move the 3pt cable over to tb lever and make it the throttle lever? I need to take a closer look at the 8010 3pt/tb levers. Leon B MO
