I've owned this combine 2 years and have never open the rock door. Tried once last year and really didn't know how it worked without the book in hand. When I stored the L2 I always left the door open so I thought I'd just try opening the R52 door again. It was stiff but I got it open. I clean the crud on the rear edge and sides of door. Now when I shut it the door seems to have quite a bit of movement. It doesnt open without the tools but it looks like it would be bouncing a lot. Is there an adjustment for it? I can't find any adjustment in the book other than latch adjustment.

Methinks you haven't slammed it fully shut and then latched it. The result is looseness if done that way. I see lots of those nice doors that get practically rusted shut from non-use.

If the door is shut correctly it will not move. When I popped mine open the first time I also thought I,d cleaned it well. Found out when I started cutting beans again that I was wrong. It really needs to be clean before closing and latching. There is also a definite feel and sound when it’s closed correctly. It will not move.

Is closing this door similar to the F2, laying on your back-use BOTH legs to slam the door shut- hold the door up/tight while using the "wrench" to latch the door shut ?

To shut a rotor door you have to balance yourself on one foot while straddling the clean grain housing and with two door closing bars, one in each hand, you pull one bar toward you while pushing the other one away till you here it snap shut while being three feet off the ground. Sounds like fun, right?

Doc was right first. I already had all the crud cleaned out but I ended up oiling it, rocking it back and forth til exhausted, oiled some more, rocked some more until it somewhat swings down with it's own weight.
Then I had to oil the latch pivots and hinge, rock that back and forth, oil, rock and so on and so forth. Now is somewhat free. Then call number 4 daughter out to shop to help latch that blasted thing properly. I worked up a sweat! My L2 was easier by far.... and dirtier by far. Thanks fellas.
