Ya, I did the 'net thing same time I posted this. I think you are right, end rot. That was the easy part. After that, there are ALL SORTS of opinions on cause, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous....too hi....too low. Soil PH too acidic, not acidic enough. One of the things mentioned in several places was water stress, too much water, not enough water. I tend to lean toward that, as we had LOTS of water when they were planted, and then went to mild drought. Now, in the last two weeks, lots of water again. Also, supposedly 'paste' tomatoes are more susceptible to end rot, which these are.
I have some volunteer purslane and mint from previous years growing under the 'maters, but I doubt that is the problem. (side note, if you ever want to get even with someone, sneak over to their place and plant some mint! They will fight that stuff the rest of their lives!!!!)

Blossom end rot add tomato fertilizer Or powdered milk to your plants. It wont help any tomatoes that are now on the vine but the next round of blossoms will grow clear.

Had the same problem several years ago and added lime to the garden and haven't had any end rot since. Think I used hydrated lime; all available immediately but won't solve the problem this year.

BL rot. I've been adding leftover busted up drywall pieces to wife's garden for a few years. It adds calcium, supposed to lessen BL rot. Add in fall, plow or till, over winter/spring it breaks down,plow/tilling in spring spreads it around OK. Also, not supposed to plant in same area next year. if you add compost, nutrients, etc. yo can though....

I feel for you Lou, I went through this about 10 years ago. A soil test is the only way to go. They tell you too much of......and add...... Worth it.
