Topic: 8.3 cummins into 7060Posted: 11 May 2020 at 8:56am |

Hello All I'm new to here all looking for some help from all the experts Im based in the UK and have a 7060 and a 8550 Unfortunately, engine in 7060 has gone and have an 8.3 cummins engine to put in it. Bought an adaptor kit from Leamans tractors The oil pan on this engine has a front mounted suction pipe. I've had to reverse the oil pan for it to fit because it hits the front axle. When it is reversed the other end of the oil pan is very shallow and the oil suction pipe prevents the oil pan from closing. Has anyone done this conversion and managed to sort this problem. Also, how do I get round the front mountings problem? Hope someone will be able to help. Thanks |

Have not been around the Cummins to know how they are made but often when installing combine engines, they trim front plate ears and use angle iron bolted to inside frame rail then weld the 2 together

Welcome to the AC forum.
I would recommend contacting your engine adaptor plate source & ask them. Those businesses usually know about numerous issues associated with engine swaps. From which application did your doner Cummins 8.3 arrive? Ag Tractor? AgCombine? Construction Equipment? Truck? GenSet? Etc? For your AC7060 (AgTractor) application, you might look into the CaseIH magnum series oil pan at a salvage yard? Edited by AC7060IL - 12 May 2020 at 5:14am |

Heres a truck 8.3 oil pan weblink that shows different Cummins part numbers & photos. 3924017 & 3924010 have about 3/4 moderate depth drain and 1/4 smaller squared-off deep sump. 3914013 is divided half deep sump & half shallow drain.

In this link, scroll down to pages 78 to view 8.3 oil pan Cummins 3914015. It has a larger center sump with short drains on each end. It has shows oil pump suck tube. I believe this one is used by most of the case-IH tractor & combine applications.

Instead of swapping oil pans, you may just need to swap oil pan sump tubes??
When searching for this engine’s parts, try both Cummins “6c8.3” and/or “ISC”. Here’s a Cummins oil pan sump tube link. It contains lots of engine models; ISX, N14, ISM, L10, ISC, 8.3, ISB, 5.9, so please scroll thru them til you find ISC or 8.3. Or you could pick 8.3, ISC, 504, etc from their model search at top of page. Hope it’s helps https://www.vanderhaags.com/Search-Results.php?manufacturer=cummins&inventorytype=engine-oil-pickup-tube Edited by AC7060IL - 12 May 2020 at 5:54am |
