D-17 or 170 with Left Hand Power Director Lever

   I am installing a Left Hand Shuttle Clutch Lever on my 170 and I am looking for a photo of the bracket that holds the lever quadrant when lever is mounted on the left side.  I have had no luck finding the bracket for sale anywhere so I will build one, but it would be helpful to see how Allis did it.Thanks in advance.  Bret (OH)

	Don't know if this will help, but here's a diagram from the AGCO Parts Books. (enter as Guest, at prompt enter D17, click on D17 Tractor (Prior to Series IV, page 246) Shows the Right-Hand version and Left-Hand version of the PD. Note that the view for the RH version is looking FORWARD from operator's position; the LH version is looking AFT BTW, Item 3 for the LH version is not the same part as Item 3 (70237176) for the RH version Edited by Gatz in NE - 24 Apr 2020 at 6:45pm

	Here is my solution to the Left Hand Lever. I built a bracket of my own design using the quadrant and rear stop from the right side lever setup. I modified the lever shaft by adding new keyways for the clutch fork and moving the oring groves and snap ring locations sideways by .395 thousandths. This set the lever to the left enough to get the fabricated bracket behind it. I also had to modify the clutch pedal with the offset so there would be no interferance with the lever. Allis made a special clutch pedal for this application but that also has been impossible to locate.

	This is the first I’ve heard of the left-hand option. What was the reasoning behind it? Somebody with a disability on their right side?

	Shuttle clutch option . loose 4 forward gears but now 4 forward and 4 reverse controlled by shuttle clutch . Usually mounted on left side.
	You only need to know 3 things to be a plumber;Crap rolls down hill,Hot is on the left and Don't bite your fingernails 1964 D-17 SIV 3 Pt.WF,1964 D-15 Ser II 3pt.WF ,1960 D-17 SI NF,1956 WD 45 WF.

	Note: shuttle clutch option changes the PTO speed to a non-standard RPM.

	The reasoning was that your right hand would be very busy with the loader controls, the throttle, and although not very often, the transmission gear shift. While your left hand/arm is doing zilch. Imagine having the PD lever still on the right side.

	H3 is based on a D-15, same principal but most parts are different. The One-Seventy I converted is still a Power Director, but as Gatz stated, I changed it so I could use the hand clutch with Left hand and hyd. with the Right. Eventually, if I can find all the parts I will build a torque housing with all the shuttle gears and switch it into the One-Seventy. The 170's from the factory had a 2 speed PTO, which made it useable at normal speeds but for me it doesn't matter as I don't use the PTO on this tractor for anything.

	@Bret(OH), Is that lever an actual left side reversing lever meant for shuttle ? Good job on making the offset clutch pedal...looks factory Nice One-Seventy btw

	The factory cluth pedal for a 170 shuttle is wider, i think we may have an extra one not sure if dad wants to sell it or not. We have a factory 175 and 170 shuttle clutch. Very fun to operate and would make an awesome loader tractor.

	I am (1) gear away from having all the parts necessary to build a Shuttle Shift torque housing for the One-Seventy, but it seems that I may never achive my goal, as that one gear seems as elusive to me as a Unicorn's Wisdom Tooth. The gear I need is the Hollow Shaft Gear coming forward from the Transmission Clutch, Part # 70236549. I believe it is almost exactly the same as a Power Director gear except that the Helix of the Teeth for the Shuttle is a mirror image of the Power Director. Many salvage parts outlets show this part # in inventory but all so far have been mis-numbered in their inventory and are in fact Power Director gears. This gear, as far as I know, is used only in the D-17, D-19, 170 and 175. Seems that most of the Shuttle tractors are ones based on the D-15 driveline, and this gear is different in them. If anyone knows where I could look for or find this gear I would appriciate the information. I would be interested in that clutch pedal if it were for sale. My modification works, but I would like to have an OEM pedal.
