I have a I60 diesel same as D15. I think injection timing is off. Where is the timing marks on the flywheel and where is the pot/hole to view it?

Unless someone has had the front end of the engine apart and changed the gear teeth location, that isn't the problem. The RoosaMaster injection pump can be rotated back and forth a few degrees each way to vary the timing some. Generally, the pumps are located near the center of the adjustment slots. There is supposed to be a timing pin dowel attached to the rear engine plate on the left side. Unscrew the timing pin dowel, turn it around and stick it in the same hole and put your finger against it, pushing it against the flywheel. Have someone slowly turn the engine over until the timing pin dowel falls into a hole in the flywheel. At this point the timing marks inside the window of the injection pump should be aligned.

Basically what I've said in this situation, is time it as Dr says, with pin in flywheel. If pump marks won't line up, turn it one turn, pin it again. If pump marks still won't line up, the drive gear is either off a tooth or several, or it has slipped in the shaft. I have had these do that before when trying to run the pump in old crappy fuel. Amazingly it didn't totally seize the pump, but did damage the pump enough to need a replacement head and rotor. This pump was nasty when I got it for rebuild, so slipping is not out of the question.

Does anyone have a pic they could post for this gentleman? He is having great difficulty figuring out where the engine's timing marks/pin hole are.

Pin and pin hole are on the left side of the tractor underneath the steering shaft as it comes thru the bellhousing, as I remember an old D-17 from 40+ yrs ago.

I sure think he got them right, but this one has been a head scratcher, plus I'm not there to look at it.
