Hi can anyone tell me where the temp gauge and sender is supposed to be located I thought it would be the same as a B but the CA that i have doesn't have the place for it in the thermostat housing , it has the hole in the bonnet but no place for a gauge ?

hmm, maybe it was replaced by previous owner ? I'm sure my CA had one in the stat housing...well, kinda sure, um, yeah, I think so... yeah it did...

All the CA's were the same as the B's and C's. That would be some clever re-engineering that was most likely cheaper than ordering the original type.
The proper place for a censer in re engineering is any place you get to the flowing water in the water jacket. I would probably drill and tap behind and below the generator. |

Pitch the housing you have, and get the one that belongs there. Early B's didn't have a temp gauge and it looks like somebody put an early B housing on your engine.

Maybe, somebody put an early B engine in your CA! The engine number stamped on the block would tell.
