 Topic: Allis Chalmers D19 front weights

I was looking at a 1964 D19 today trying to buy it and on the front it had a single wrap around weight. I wasnt like any Allis weights I have see, in other words there wasnt a bracket that came out and flat weights bolted or stacked on it, it curved with the curve of the front grill and bolted on each side. I have seen these types of weights on like a Case 930 but never a Allis tractor. Were these factory weights or something that some foundry made and sold after market, or were they made for another brand and just painted orange and put on the D19. Thanks for your help.

Technically, that particular weight is behind the grille shell and you can't see it on a D-19. Maybe there's two of them....one on top of the other ???

DrAllis, did you scroll down to 11th or 12th from the bottom of the page? There IS a weight that mounts in front of the grille.

The wt on this tractor is not like that one, it wraps all the way around the front and is bolted on the sides, not on the front

By any means, post a picture! There were aftermarket weights made, too... If it is cast, and has a raised #, that starts with AM, it is made by allis...

I'm sure that I've seen a weight like that. If I remember correctly its a Rowe weight. Rowe Foundry made a lot of different weights for A-C tractors and I'm sure other makes as well

The weight shown in the picture is mounted externally on a D-15 because that's the only way it can possibly fit a D-15. That ain't how AC intended for it to be used. AC intended for it to be used on a D-19 only and inside of the grille shell where there is a void.

There was a "u-shaped" weight that was aftermarket for the 17 and 19, I have seen them installed and believe they may have in-fact been Rowe Foundry weights if memory serves. Utilize the two front threaded holes in the bolster under the grill screen plus engine side rails where drilled/tapped, were big and HEAVY. Have a picture somewhere of a S1 D17 with them, owned by the son of a former dealer in Stephenville, TX who still has the yard tractor from the dealership.

I believe Anthony is referring to the two piece wrap-around weight shown in the picture below by CALEBnOK. As I recall, these were made by Taylor Foundry.
