I just know ole Shameless is gonna be so proud of me on this one,,,,I got the body work done on the 2006 PT Cruiser and got it in primer ready for final sanding and shoot some paint on it when we get a nice wind free day.... Ole Joe can still do some decent body work with just a brick and a claw hammer,,,,, ![]() The engine had a small oil leak at the oil pressure sending unit and replaced it and as always my BIG ole hands just get in the way of getting into them tight tiny place they hide them dang sensors,,,,!!! Then on to the A/C to add a little refrigerant as system was a little low,,,,but I'm still lookin for the LOW pressure port and there ain't one on the "LOW Side". Now,,,in all my years of working with pumps, compressors, any rotating equipment,,,,the suction or "low side" has always been the bigger of the two lines at a pump, compressor or what have you. The discharge line or "high side" has always been the smaller of the two lines at the equipment. UNTIL they built these Chrysler PT Cruisers,,,,WTH,,,?? On this car,,there is only ONE port for charging the system and it is on the SMALLER of the two lines at the compressor as well as at the accumulator,,,,WTH,,?? Checked several videos on UTube and all of them say to use the port that is on the high side,,or is it the low side,,,??? Chit Fire,,,,

The cooler of the two when its running is the one you want, regardless of it's size.

Hey Steve,,this would apply if there is enough freon in the system to get the pressure switch to trigger the compressor to start the recycle of freon. On all of the systems I have worked on before this one, there have been two ports,,one on the low side (or bigger size line) for charging and one on the high side (smaller line) to install the pressure gauges to tell when you have enough freon in the system. You sure wouldn't want to try adding freon into the high side (smaller line) of an operable system,,,might find out what freon tastes like,,,,,

It's in front between the radiator and and compressor down low. Take the upper radiator support loose and pull it forward to get your fat fist in there. I think it points down.

That's one of the main problems working on any late model car. You can barely get your hands in anywhere, shortest possible wiring to anything, have to take half the car apart for the part to come out. They would put the wheel lugs on the inside of the wheel if they could get away with it. Then everything is made out of plastic that goes brittle in 3-5 years. I miss the vehicles of the 60's and 70's. OK, OK I'm done, feel better now too. Sorry I didn't have your answer Joe, I usually have to spend a day researching anything I need to do with my van on the internet.

I've seen them 'do it yourselfers' vids, and think, do they gots any brains? Example - Like a vid on sharpening a chainsaw chain... with a hand held grinder... YIKES!!! He shoves that grinder into the teeth and a spray of sparks flying and then says the rakers are needing to be ground down a little bit so he was going to just 'touch them up'... yea, touch them and shoves the grinder down on top of them and make another shower of sparks... It was a kid out in the yard doing it... Can't find the vid but here is one that isn't as aggressive at it... LOL [TUBE]aVPyV336Fnc[/TUBE]
