Stopped at Taco Bell yesterday to get the loving lady a sweet tea, and figured i might as well get a couple tacos to much on myself.
I came back out and got in the car and we went home.   Went out to go to the grocery a little later, and when i got there, i didn't have my wallet.... OH CRAP!!  Came home and tore everything apart.   Called the Taco Bell so see if anyone turned it in.  No such luck..... as expected.   Came back home and called the credit card places to cancel the lost cards.....hmmmm which ones were in there anyway????  Then dreaded having to get a new drivers license and concealed carry permit.
Fast forward to today, I had a couple facebook messenger messages from a couple i didn't know.   They found my wallet in the parking lot, and being skeptical, didn't trust the Taco Bell to keep it safe, they took it with them.   After looking inside and finding some info, they searched and found me on facebook and sent me a message.  I work out of town, so i arranged them to meet my fiance and get it back to us this morning.  Everything was in it, including a sizeable amount of cash.
He didn't want to take a reward, but the loving fiance kept on until he took it ($50).
Restores my faith in people.  My license is from a different state than where she is, so someone could have easily said, he's not from around here, cleaned it out and gone on.  I really thank them for their honesty.

I dropped my Costco card in the parking lot and someone turned it in. Costco called me and we were only half way home to let me know and that they would keep it in the safe for me until I came back.  I was happy!

That's good to hear Greg. I left my wallet at Menards a few years ago at the checkout isle . The young lady that was working the register saw it and gave it to the manager for safe keeping. I didn't notice until I didn't have money for lunch .Called Menards and they said they had it , WHEWWWWW!!!!! .I asked manager where she was as I wanted to thank her and give her some money . He tried to tell me there was no need to .BS is what I told him .I found her and forced her to take some money . The time it would have taken to replace all the IDs and licenses

And I thought I was the only one that's forgetful. The phone, keys, and wallet take turns running off to hide.

Ted, this actually happened in Knoxville, TN.   Pat,  I had already cancelled the credit cards, so now i will have to set up new payments for those things i use them to pay each month which will be a hassle, but i couldn't afford the risk of not doing it, however i at least don't need to get a new drivers license and concealed carry permit.
The fiance has the wallet in her possession, and has been eyeing the $$$ i had in there.   This may still cost me LOL.

ran a restaurant 35-40 years ago. had a lot of people leave different things, watches, wedding rings purses and such. got calls from out of state lots of times, always mailed peoples stuff back to them on my dime. never had the first person call and say thanks or pay for shipping. found $100 dollar bill in floor of gas station few years back and turned it in to dude a cash register, always wondered what he bought with it, bet it didn't make it back to whoever dropped it.

marion; them not thanking you or paying for shipping is their insufficiency. you did the right thing and can't help those that have no common courtesy to someone who did them a big favor. just keep on doing the right thing, not enough of that in the world nowadays.

Yeah Marion that's what you get for being nice.....  I've done the same type of things many times and gotten the short end of the deal, but I feel good about it and stack it up as a 'learning' experience.  Apparently I'm still learning........Oh well, I sleep good at night and feel good about myself.  I'm not a saint, but I'm honest,,,,,,,to a fault...

My wife and I both, in two separate instances years apart, left our wallets in a shopping cart at wal mart. Both times the cart kid turned em into the service counter, and we got em back with everything still in them. I think that for the most part, at least 95% of the people in this country are still pretty honest. There are a few that you can't trust. Darrel

around here, if you find a wallet on the street, just drop it in a US mail drop box, they will mail it free to the owners address shown inside.

I saw a woman's wallet laying on the side of the road, just past the local truck farm store one day. I stopped and picked it up. There was a bunch of cash and a whole stack of checks written to the owner(hairdresser). I didn't know the owner, but knew her husband and took it to his folks gas station.
The mother in law said it probably saved their marriage because there was a whole weeks worth of checks in there from her business. I never heard from the woman.
Just a few years ago, I got out of my car at the fairgrounds in Freeport during an Allis feature show. Got my cane out of the back and walked by the drivers door and saw a big fat wallet on the ground. Bout had a heart attack, thinking it was mine and I didn't know how I could have dropped it without knowing.
It wasn't mine and probably had a couple hundred dollars in bills with a stack of credit cards. I noticed a Sheriffs deputy drivin around on a golf cart and gave it to him. He says, "whos is that?' I told him I found it and believed a fellow in a wheel chair had lost it getting out of his car. I sure hope the deputy was an honest fellow Shocked
